U13-U19 Provincial Play*

*If a team (U13 to U19) wishes to compete in Provincials, that team will require at least one coach that has their Community Softball certification (formerly NCCP Certification Level 1 (which includes Making Ethical Decisions (MED))) or Competition - Introduction certification (formerly NCCP Certification Level 2). One female Coach must have their MED - Making Ethical Decisions.

AAFA will pay for Community Softball and Competition - Introduction Certification training for coaches. The coach will be required to pay for the training upfront. Upon completion of one full season of coaching with AAFA, the Coach is eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of these courses.

What is the time commitment of a Coach?

Coaching with Airdrie Angels Fastpitch is a team effort, with multiple coaches working together to ensure a smooth and successful season. Coaches are expected to attend games twice a week, including pre-game warm-ups, as well as the Opening Weekend Tournament and City Championships. It is also recommended that teams schedule at least one practice per week.

Beyond game days, coaching responsibilities include creating practice plans, attending category meetings, and possibly organizing team-building events. AGSA encourages teams to participate in tournaments or Provincials, which take place on weekends during the season—visit the Softball Alberta website for a full list.

Before the season starts, coaches are asked to assist with winter indoor practices and clinics, helping players develop skills ahead of the spring season. Once teams are formed, coaches will take the lead in running their team’s indoor sessions.
